Coretec Inc, Denver, Adds Excellon Intelli-Drill with Gemini-X Linear Plus

Rancho Dominguez, CA – September 24, 2008 – Excellon Automation is pleased to announce the successful integration of the Excellon Automation Intelli-Drill with XACT PCB Software’s Gemini-X Linear Plus software solution at the Coretec Inc Denver, CO facility.

Following the initial successful of the Software solution at their Toronto facility, Coretec chose to launch the solution at the Denver facility to work with their Excellon Automation Intelli-Drill® system. The Intelli-Drill® is an advanced single spindle driller that employs a sophisticated vision inspection system to examine inner layer registration and provide layer correction data . The XACT Gemini-X software analyses the data and builds a database of how the many different types of materials react in their fabrication processes. This will allow for even more accurate prediction of scaling factors through the statistical observation of the material characteristics.

James Amundson, CAM and IT Manager at Coretec Toronto says that with the XACT Software solution “the need to run test batches on new complex designs with Blind/Buried via’s has been reduced to almost nothing. Scrap resulting from mis-registration has also been significantly reduced.” Matt Snogren, Product Engineer at the Denver facility adds “the integration of the Intelli-Drill and the Gemini-X software has been seamless and extremely effective in rapidly improving internal layer to layer accuracy.”

Roy Cripps, Excellon’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing adds “the combination of the XACT Solution with the advanced capabilities of Excellon’s Concept 129 Intelli-Drill® now offers Coretec increased control and prediction of PCB registration corporate wide. With the Denver plant focus on leading edge proto-type work and as panel designs become more complex and tolerances tighter, layer by layer analysis is becoming far more crucial.”
