Excellon Installs 136L Intelli-Drill at Bay Area Circuits
January 13, 2015
The Excellon 136L Intelli-Drill System with a large work area of 30 by 36 inches and fast, accurate axis positioning via linear motor technology, makes quick work of large panel prototype as well as production PCBs. The Intelli-Drill vision system provides capabilities such as post lamination tooling optimization, drilling/routing relative to surface targets and features ensuring high accuracy and precise hole placement.
“The 136L Intelli-Drill strengthens our manufacturing capabilities particularly related to small hole drilling, registration and tighter tolerances,” said Stephen Garcia, President, Bay Area Circuits. “Our investment in the 136L will improve production efficiency and ultimately allow us to create additional value for our customers.”
Mike Sparidaens, Vice President of Sales at Excellon, shared his comments: “Excellon has partnered with Bay Area Circuits since the 1970's. We look forward to the implementation of the 136L Intelli-Drill System and being a part of Bay Area Circuit's high technology facility for years to come.”

Excellon Installs HS-2L Intelli-Drill at Electro Plate Circuitry
March 17, 2014
Excellon announces the installation of an HS-2L Intelli-Drill System at Electro Plate Circuitry, Inc. of Carrollton, Texas.
The Excellon HS-2L Intelli-Drill System is a two-station high-speed drilling system with Intelli-Drill vision. It has a large work area of 32 x 28 inches per station. The Intelli-Drill vision system uses CCD vision for precise alignment to both inner and outer layer features.
Jim McNeal III, vice president at Electro Plate Circuitry, said, “The HS-2L provides us with some serious tools for supporting our customers. The depth controlled Z axis milling and camera system bring a new range of capabilities to our products. It adds the ability to target and optimize hole positions with etched features allowing us to meet very tight true position tolerances. Much of our work is sequentially laminated multilayers with tight registration, embedded cavities, and precision milling. It is going to be a critical capability going forward.”
Electro Plate Circuitry, Inc. has earned the reputation of providing highly-reliable products and supporting the tightened quality requirements of aerospace and military customers.
Mike Sparidaens, vice president of Sales, commented, “The HS-2L fills a void where one station isn't enough and six is just too many. With the high-speed axis positioning and high-speed spindles it is a work horse. Excellon is exhibiting at this year’s IPC APEX EXPO and, as always, we welcome visitors to our booth.”
Excellon announces the installation of a COBRA Hybrid Laser Via System at Advanced Circuits
Rancho Dominguez, CA – February 11, 2014
Excellon announces the installation of a COBRA Hybrid Laser Via System at Advanced Circuits, Inc. of Tempe, Arizona.
The Excellon COBRA Hybrid Laser System offers both UV and IR laser sources on one platform and a large work area of 31 by 25 inches for those companies running larger panel prototypes and production PCB’s. The system uses CCD vision for precise alignment to the inner-layers.
Alex Chandy, Director of Operations at Advanced Circuits, Tempe Division said: “The COBRA laser will allow our operation to further technology and growth in complex PCB's requiring micro vias and machining. Having both the UV and IR lasers on one platform will allow for the highest precision of these small vias and machining on every job in production.”
Advanced Circuits, Inc., is now ranked among the top three board fabricators in North America and is well known for its reliability and customer excellence and has become a leader in not only the commercial PCB arena but also in the high-reliability, military/aerospace/defense, and high technology marketplace.
Mike Sparidaens, Vice President of Sales, shared his comments: “The COBRA Hybrid Laser System is well known for its reliability and low cost of operation. We are excited about the latest hole formation technology that has been incorporated into the Cobra leading to improved hole quality and throughput. Excellon will be exhibiting at this year’s IPC APEX Expo, and we’d be pleased to discuss these enhancements with visitors to our booth.”
